Phytase: Overview
Phytase is an enzyme that breaks down phytic acid (phytate), a form of phosphorus stored in plants, particularly in seeds and grains. Phytic acid can bind essential minerals like calcium, zinc, and iron, making them less available for absorption in the digestive tract.
